He was a Sith by blood and now a Sith by title. No more than a mere apprentice within the Academy as of this moment in this faction. Boredom struck him in his quarters, so to relieve himself of it, he headed to the library to read up on Sith literature. The stones were cold to the touch on his bare feet. Karnak passed by several Sith patroling the halls aimlessly, since there was little to do here. Two arrogant students were sparing in the center of the main entrance, mostly to prove who was the strongest in the academy. Ironically, neither of them wielded a lightsaber and neither of them knew any Force powers beyond Force Jump. Karnak would pass these fools easily. He passed through the lackluster spar of fist-and-foot to the library, or at least he tried.
Passing through a fight isn't a recommended feat. In this case, it was especially a bad idea, considering both apprentices were putting their pride on the line before most of their fellow students. One of them grabbed Karnak by the arm and sqeazed his bicep. Karnak didn't even give the boy a look before he tossed him aside with his free arm. Of course, the student didn't take that too well. He got up from the ground and unsheathed Karnak's melee weapon from Karnak's back, the ancient Sith sword which Karnak had guarded with four other sentients for the past decade. Karnak turned around and caught the blade as his fellow student chopped downward at his skull. With the steel blade sandwiched between both palms, Karnak kicked the arrogant student in the stomach, pulled the sword from his hands, and smacked him on the bridge of his nose with the butt of the sword's hilt.
Now that the boy's nose and pride were broken, he backed down and allowed Karnak to pass. Sheathing his blade, Karnak proceeded on his course. He took a seat in the library and took out a holocron on Marka Ragnos' rise to power and the history of the Sith from the beginning of his rise to power to the transition into Naga Sadow's rule. For hours, Karnak would study this small piece of Sith history. When the holocron ended, a single word escaped Karnak's mouth like a whisper as the image of Naga Sadow disappeared....
"Master...."
